Welcome to Ontario's Global Web Conference on Aggressive Driving Issues.

As Ontario's Minister of Transportation, I am proud to sponsor the Global Web Conference on Aggressive Driving Issues. This innovative conference is a product of Ontario's Action Plan for Safer Roads. The research topics were guided by my “Ontario Advisory Group on Safe Driving", a diverse group of road user safety advocates I called together as part of the Action Plan for Safer Roads. This clearly demonstrates Ontario's ongoing commitment to improving road user safety.

Aggressive driving is a safety issue for drivers worldwide, yet very little systematic research has been conducted. This lack of knowledge can only hamper our efforts to make roads safer.

Ontario is harnessing the power of the Internet to draw on global resources. We have invited experts on safe driving from around the world to share their knowledge, examine each other's research and discuss possible solutions. We will all benefit from this initiative. This forum provides a unique opportunity to make real progress against aggressive driving.

Road user safety is a topic I feel very passionate about. I am therefore a strong supporter of this international Web conference and believe these discussions will bring significant potential benefits. I look forward to the outcome of this valuable exchange of knowledge and expertise.
